Our 2007 Opportunity Awards Gala, “An Evening in the French Quarter - Celebrating Success,” was held May 12 at the Pasadena Westin Hotel. Friends and supporters mingled in the foyer during a wine reception and silent auction and continued the fun in the Fountain Ballroom over dinner.
We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Event Co-Chairs Yvonne Taylor and Ellen Ligons; Event Committee members Renelyn Evora Barinaga, Sabrina Gomez, James Hall, Greg Richardson, Olga Ruiz, Robert Wahlstrom, and Terry Wilson; our Honorary Event Co-Chairs Jaylene Moseley and Jeffrey Thacker, and our event sponsors and donors for making this special evening possible!
Ellen Ligons and Yvonne Taylor and our Event Committee members transported our guests to Louisiana’s French Quarter with delicious food, beautiful decorations, including gorgeous floral arrangements that were raffled off to lucky winners, and wonderful live music performed by the Pasadena City College Student Jazz Band. Comedian/Magician Gerry Katzman made everyone laugh while performing some pretty amazing tricks involving, among other things, fresh fruit.
Special guest and long-time Foothill supporter Jaylene Moseley, Managing Director of the Flintridge Foundation and President of J.L. Moseley Company, Inc., and Araceli Gonzalez, Deputy Director, Community Liaison with the Office of Government Arnold Schwarzenegger each spoke movingly about the ways in which employment opportunities for the disabled improve lives and enrich our communities.
The event was a huge success that brought people who care about the disabled together and also raised much needed funds for Foothill Vocational Opportunities, Inc.’s programs.
