Foothill serves over 200 disabled adults annually, over
90% of whom are Supplemental Security Income recipients with
low to moderate income. Most of our clients reside
in the Greater Pasadena area and East Los Angeles.
Foothill serves a diverse range of disabled individuals. We
serve persons with developmental disabilities , physical
disabilities and mental illnesses . Most of our
clients have been diagnosed with multiple disabilities. The
diversity of our clients also extends to their racial/ethnic
backgrounds: Asian/Pacific Islanders (10%), African-Americans
(20%), Latinos (25%), and Caucasians (45%).
Clients gain vocational, social, and life skills through
active participation at Foothill's on-site production and
training facility , supervised community work crews , and
individual job placements .
Clients come to Foothill based upon referrals from the state-funded,
nonprofit system of Regional Centers , empowered by the State
Department of Developmental Services , to aid individuals
with developmental disabilities and their families in making
use of the community resources available to them. To
